Sarco Architects Panama – Earthy Contemporary Style Condominium Project
Sarco Architects Panama have completed our first complete design proposal for a project in Panama, this being that of two 5-story tall condominium apartment buildings for the mountain location development project Rancho Santa Fe Panama. The project is made up of a total of 87,600 sq.ft. of Construction Area including apartment spaces, underground private parking for owners, common use areas in the buildings and also extensive recreational areas.
Rancho Santa Fe Panama – Hear the Silence
Rancho Santa Fe Panama is located west of Panama City, about 75 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the capital of the country and booming urban city full of high-rises and location of an ever-expanding financial and banking industry. Easily accessible from the Panamerican highway, Rancho Santa Fe Panama is about 15 minutes uphill from the Coronado town intersection, where there is plenty of commercial centres where there are all kind of services, grocery stores, medical services, restaurants, and a short drive away from the Coronado beach town and golf course.
The location is about 1800 feet of elevation, providing enough altitude to have a much nicer, fresher climate. Easily a six degrees celsius drop in temperature as compared to the coastline, provides a extremely nice mild climate, mixed with spectacular natural surroundings, a panoramic over 180 degree view to the ocean and rolling hills below, and an ever-changing climate that provides a little of everything.
The peaceful location provides a singular place to get away from the city for the weekend, or to have this be a permanent residence out in the interior of the country, and be just over an hour away from Panama City. Of note is also the proximity (around 20 minutes away) from the future Rio Hato International Airport, currently under construction. Once completed, this airport will provide international flighs to the general area, making it even easier to get air transportation back to the US or Canada.

Sarco Architects Panama – Project Features
The project features a total of 12 units, with two basic apartment designs, one at 305m2 of area and another at 274m2 or area. All feature 3 bedrooms, each with its own private bath, and they feature lots of open and expansive glass surfaces facing the main panoramic views to the south. All master bedrooms have generous glass surfaces to bring the spectacular terrain and surroundings into the interior space, and all master bathrooms feature almost floor to ceiling panoramic windows facing the view.
On the top level, the project features a luxurious Penthouse featuring a total of 4 bedrooms, including a very large master bedroom suite with glass doors and windows all around, providing panoramic views to the south and to the north. At Sarco Architects Panama we have designed the project to allow natural ventilation through most spaces on each unit, especially in the living areas, in order to enhance the use of passive cooling and take advantage of natural breezes available year-round.
To complement the needs of the 12 families that will enjoy the peaceful life on this project, Sarco Architects Panama have designed over 1,000m2 of exterior recreational areas, including a two-level infinity edge swimming pool with large deck space around the pool, and patio areas surrounding the back of the swimming pool, complemented by a wood pergola that cantilevers out of an inclined and naturally curving stone-clad walls, which allows vines and other creeping plants to grow and cover the pergola, providing natural shading to the lounging areas.
Sarco Architects Panama – A sustainable architecture philosophy for the project
From the very start at Sarco Architects Panama, we have envisioned this project as an opportunity for a great example of Sustainable Architecture in Panama. The design has been conceptualised to allow the use of many sustainable architecture elements such as the following:
- Use of certified renewable plantation woods for exterior ceilings and wood beams
- Sloping roof surfaces non visible from any angle on the property will allow ample surfaces for photovoltaic cells to provide power for all common areas
- Rainwater collection and reutilisation for irrigation purposes
- Use of environmentally friendly composite wood siding on exterior surfaces
- Use of locally sourced natural stone for cladding of multiple wall surfaces
- Use of solar cell-powered lights for exterior areas
Many other elements and concepts in sustainable architecture will be further developed and planned once we are further along in the project development.
Sarco Architects Panama have put in a lot of time, thought and dedication on the creation of this singular project.
